On the personal level, DKM helps individuals to become more productive, and creative, share what they know, and stay on top of all that matters. Every person has goals in life, sets up personal projects to achieve those, manages ideas and tasks in daily life. 

There are common principles that work well for individuals, – David Allen and his remarkable GTD concept, S.M.A.R.T. goals, and progressive summarization by Tiago Forte, – to name a few. Combined with best practices from the business world and a tool – it is a contemporary live management system.

It is conected to corporate knowledge management too: no consultancy company WANTS consultants to take knowledge with them when they leave. And NO consultant will miss the opportunity to make a copy of important documents or samples for themselves when leaving the company. My idea is to turn these inevitable happenings upside down: the company encourages and trains the consultant to develop his/her own personal knowledge base, Which he/she can take with him/her when he/she leaves (as long as it is not a copyright-protected methodology, of course). The positive effects are: 

– the consultant feels and appreciates the quotient of the trust that has been given to him/her – this creates a general atmosphere of trust in the company, and an atmosphere of trust is essential for knowledge exchange.

– The consultant starts to consciously carry out KM processes – initially for himself, but once he has learned and developed the habit, he does it for the company as well, and teaches others to do it, or even starts to demand it. 

– The consultant becomes more efficient and is able to do more in less time
